About Sue

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Sue is a self taught artist who began working in acrylics, then progressed to oils during the famous blizzard of ‘78.  She owes much to a friend who explained how to work with oils, and encouraged her to enter her first  competitive show.  It was at this show that she won her first award, First Place (Exhibitor’s Choice) in 1979.
Her paintings span an array of styles from naturalistic flowers to fantasy landscapes., from animals and birds to old, wrinkly faces. Sue’s paintings have won numerous local awards.
Following her retirement and back surgery, Sue began to seriously experiment with other art forms as a way to keep busy and speed her recovery. Sue has used a variety of candle making techniques to meld and build upon themes of fantasy & nature. She loves experimenting with lawn statuary (cement on a wire framework) bas-relief treatments on
walls, and well executed faux finishes. She is always trying new techniques and loves discovering what can be done with novel approaches. In fusing original direction into what artistically has been a hobby, she is now delighting more than family and friends.
Sue is a member of Town & Country Fine Art Center and the Dayton Society of Painters & Sculptors.
